Goal: The goal of the band program is the development of each student’s musicianship by striving to gain abilities in performing, listening, creating, and valuing music. Through participation in band, students experience responsibility and achievement as an important member of this group endeavour.

Classes: Grade 7 and grade 8 band classes meet three times per cycle. Grade 9 band classes meet four times per cycle.

Concerts: Class bands present concerts for family and friends in November, January and May.

Enrichment Activities: In addition to the school concerts planned throughout the year, Grade 7 students perform at the Beginning Band Festival in April. Students are also encouraged to audition for Manitoba Junior Honour Band, taking place in May.

Opportunities to perform in the jazz band and small ensemble are open to students upon entering Grade 8, unless students have previous experience on their instrument.
