"Have a Ball for Africa"!
“Have a Ball for Africa” was born from the challenge given to our Grade 6 students along with 16,000 other young people at We Day at the MTS Centre in November 2011. They were asked to find a service project that they could undertake. A small village in Africa is in the process of establishing a school. They began with just a pre-school in 2010 but have also begun to offer Grade 1 as well. They hope each year they will be able to add a grade. As well as the school, they offer recreational programs to 200 children and teens in Chiwala, Zambia. Emerson School is raising funds to supply the school with sports equipment. Parents, relatives and friends are asked to support this effort by sponsoring students participating in a sports circuit called “Have a Ball For Africa” on May 16. We hope you will give this fundraiser your full support. Please encourage your child to approach friends and relatives as divisional policy prohibits door-to-door canvassing. Every student that raises $25 or more will have their names entered in a draw to win some great African & sports related prizes. Thank you!
