Our Grade 5 students will be exploring the Ladybug Foundation as the focus for their citizenship initiative. The website is inspired by Hannah Taylor, a young Winnipegger known throughout North America for her outstanding contributions to raise awareness to the plight of the homeless. Our students will be conducting research, having class discussions and becoming actively involved in supporting the homeless in Winnipeg. The students in Mr. Reid's Grade 5 class are already reading Maniac Magee in their English language arts class, in which one of the main themes in the book is homelessness.
