Home Economics 

John Pritchard does not have a Home Economics facility, therefore Grade 7 and some Grade 8 students attend classes at Salisbury Morse Place School, Grade 9 and the remaining Grade 8 students attend classes at River East Collegiate.

Grades 7 to 9 home economics consist of two sections – foods and nutrition, clothing and textiles – each lasting eight cycles.

How to use shopping list to shop for food
Correct storage of food to avoid waste and food poisoning
How to read food labels
Tips on microwave cooking
Take-home project that reviews all above topics

Clothing and Textiles

Review of machine parts and equipment
Study of pattern envelope, pattern markings and instruction sheets
How to transfer pattern markings and cut out patterns
Basic use of irons and sergers
