Grad 2010 March Update
Happening Now or Very Soon:
Rob Ferrand, from Josten’s, will be at KEC to sell grad rings over lunch, April 8th and 9th. Information brochures are available in Guidance.
Grad pictures are taking place between March 15th and 19th. Signup sheets for the second round of Grad Pictures became available in Guidance March 1st. See “General Information” for details pertaining to grad pictures.
Sobey's Fundraiser: We are currently doing another Sobey’s fundraiser. Orders need to be in March 17th. We have been consistently getting 8-10% profit, so this has been a great fundraiser! Funds go to individual grads.
Grad Wear: Trinda Penniston has designed this year’s grad wear. Her design was selected from several terrific entries from our very talented grade 12 Graphic Design students. Grad Wear sales began March 1st, and will continue until March 12th. Hoodies are $50.00, with an option to personalize for an extra $4.00, and sweat pants and yoga pants are $40.00. Orders must be pre-paid. Grads can order through grad committee members, who will be taking orders during lunch time, in front of the office, or through Ms. Lintott in Guidance.
Bothwell Cheese: Bothwell Cheese sales will begin March 16th and continue through April 6th. Expect to receive your cheese order within 10 business days after the April 6th deadline. The profits from this fundraiser go toward the general grad fund. We will receive $2.00 from every $7.75 block of cheese sold. This is one of two large fundraisers for the general fund, so participation is much needed to make this year’s Dinner and Dance a fantastic and affordable experience. Ticket prices will be based largely on the success of this fundraiser.
Bud, Spud and Steak: The date for this year’s Bud, Spud and Steak has been set for Friday, April 30th. It will take place at Cowboy’s, Canad Inns, Windsor Park. This is an 18+ event, organized and hosted by parents of our graduates. This is an individual fundraiser, with $7.50 of each $15.00 ticket sold going to offset the cost of an individual grad’s Dinner and Dance tickets. Any profits raised beyond the cost of two tickets will go to the general grad fund. Proceeds raised by the silent auction and 50/50 draw will also go to the general grad fund.
We are looking for gift and monetary donations for the silent auction, as this is the second of two large fundraisers for the general grad fund. Donations can be dropped off at KEC, attention Tracey Lintott. Merchant letters, requesting donations from businesses are also available through Tracey Lintott.
Parent Information Night: A Grad Parents Information Night will be held on March 24th, at 7:00 p.m., in the library. Information will be provided regarding the Designated Driver/Safe Grad procedure, as well as grad activities and volunteer opportunities. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions. Any parent who is unable to attend, but would like information on volunteering opportunities, or other aspects of grad preparations, is encouraged to call Tracey Lintott at 667-2960, ext. 2230.
**We need parents to bring or send in baby or early childhood pictures of their soon-to-be graduates for the creation of a slide show, which will be shown at the dinner and dance and at convocation.
Pictures will be scanned and returned. One picture per grad is sufficient.

Grad Pictures
The second round of grad pictures are scheduled to take place March 15th-19th. Signup sheets will be in the guidance area by Monday, March 1st. Students will require a $20 sitting fee at the time of their scheduled picture. This sitting fee will provide 16 proofs and a graduating class composite poster.
Students only wishing to have their picture taken for the purpose of being represented in the yearbook and grad composite will need to pay $5 for a drop-in appointment. This $5 only covers the cost of having this picture taken; no proofs or grad composite will be provided to students opting for this choice.
Students who have waited until the spring may have difficulty booking a time due to increased interest; they will also be unable to get retakes through the school. It’s recommended that students sign up as soon as possible when signup sheets become available. Days may be added if demand is high enough, but we cannot guarantee this possibility.
Did you know... Life Touch will give back $10 of every $20 sitting fee to put toward our grad events. What an easy fundraiser!
Fundraising
Fundraising is done to benefit both individual grads and the general grad fund. For fundraisers that benefit individual grads, the price of up to two tickets (price not yet finalized) can be earned.
Currently, Grads are being asked to sell or purchase KEC Culinary Arts Cook Books as a general grad fundraiser. The Grad Committee will receive $5.00 for every $10.00 cookbook sold!
